Q. What is the purpose of the Special Library Tax?

On November 8, 2022, Pasadena voters decided to maintain a special revenue source for Pasadena Public Library programs and services by a vote of 84.6%.  This generates approximately $2.8 million for:

• Maintaining library book/materials collections
• Preventing neighborhood library branch closures and reduction of hours to the maximum extent possible
• Allowing the City to retain qualified librarians
• Maintaining youth reading/ homework/college preparation programs
• Keeping libraries safe and welcoming
• Ensuring computer and Wi-Fi access
• Maintaining early childhood programs
