Pep Boys on East Colorado (https://www.pepboys.com/) takes household batteries for recycling in their stores. You can walk in and drop off batteries. Other automotive stores, likely to be open during Covid-19, are places you can drop off batteries for recycling, as well, so AutoZone (in Pasadena at 550 N Lake) and O'Reilly Auto Parts (1860 E Colorado) also accept batteries.

If you prefer to visit an eWaste recycling center, Los Angeles County and Los Angeles City sites are accepting batteries and eWaste (outside of Pasadena). The info for when and where can be found at the following links:
