Well, it seems that the hotel might have had a bowling alley. There is a Los Angeles Times article from 10/13/1904 (see link below), which mentions that a polling place will be at the “La Pintoresca bowling alley”. This is the only mention I can find of a bowling alley at La Pintoresca. The hotel opened in 1888 and burned down in 1912.  La Pintoresca library opened in 1930.

The 1900 and 1904 Pasadena city directories do not list a bowling alley as being at the hotel, or list it as an independent business A staff member did search the basement, to make sure, and did not find a locked door leading to a bowling alley.
