You mentioned that you have lived in Pasadena for 5 months and that qualifies you as a local resident.  You do not need to live in Pasadena to get a Pasadena Public Library card; you do need to show photo ID and proof (if not printed on the ID, then other proof) of address in California. A gas bill, an auto registration, or a number of other kinds of printed proof of residency in California will suffice. You can get a free library card with us.
